Welcome to SMU

SMU’s 11,000 diverse, high-achieving students come from all 50 states and 90 countries to take advantage of the University’s small classes, hands-on research opportunities, leadership development, community service, international study and innovative programs.

The University offers a strong foundation in the humanities and sciences and undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs through seven schools.

SMU Technology Professional Education aims to further the university’s mission to provide opportunity, offered through SMU Professional and Online (SMU PRO).

Our career pathway programs prepare you for the fields of software development, data science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence or ux/ui through a hands-on virtual classroom environment. We empower talented instructors to teach the most in-demand skills and a dedicated support team to provide students with extensive support along the way.

SMU bootcamps are offered through SMU Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE), in partnership with Flatiron School.

Challenging Curricula

We employ skillful instructors with at least five years of professional industry experience. To keep our curricula competitive, we routinely update our program to ensure students acquire the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in tech.

Engaging Classroom Experience

Learning a new skillset is a rigorous and time-intensive pursuit. That’s why we provide a hands-on virtual classroom environment. With a 5:1 student-instructor ratio, we are able to give students the attention and support they need to succeed.

Hands-On Experience

Students engage in real-world learning activities with in-class work that provides the opportunity to work together with other classmates to simulate professional environments. Throughout the program, you’ll use what you’ve learned on complex projects that will build up your professional portfolio and demonstrate your skills.

Student Support

From day one, our team puts the students first. With a helpful admissions team, passionate instructors, and dedicated student success and career services teams, you could not be in better hands as you go on this rigorous web development, or data science journey. Explore our student support.
