Internship

The Role

Netography is seeking 2 part-time software engineering interns to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a college student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with a strong interest in software engineering, systems management, and cybersecurity. This is an excellent opportunity for a student seeking a flexible role with 15-20 hours per week on average, with the ability to define your own schedule for more hours (eg during summer) and less (eg during finals) over time. The work is 100% remote working with a remote engineering team.

*Candidates should be interested in a long-term part-time job during college that spans multiple semesters - this is not a summer or single-semester internship*

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will differ depending on which track you start on, although you may switch between these roles over time:

Threat Research and Detection Engineering Track

As a member of the detection engineering team you will contribute to a body of threat research and network security detection capabilities. This role requires someone with some grounding in network forensics, offensive security, and software development. You will be accountable for studying attack techniques (and multiple tools that implement these techniques), developing hypotheses and then testing them as detection capabilities within the Netography platform, and helping develop new tools and automation.

Software Engineering Track

As a member of a software engineering team, you will contribute to the team’s velocity. Beginning with a thorough understanding of our product and its construction, you will assist in system configuration, manual testing, and the development of automated tests to ensure quality. Your responsibilities will also include enhancing documentation, creating internal tools, and, as you gain more experience and familiarity with the product, fixing bugs and contributing new features.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with at least 1 year before graduation
  • Very motivated and dedicated to learning new technology and applying it by doing
  • You were probably the best programmer at your high school
  • Strong aptitude for programming that you can demonstrate with a personal project or portfolio
  • Linux systems knowledge - you are proficient with a unix shell
  • Networking knowledge - you know how TCP/IP works
  • Experience working with AWS and AWS services is a big plus
  • Experience with cybersecurity in some capacity is a big plus
  • If you have worked with any of these before they are all a plus: Elasticsearch, Arango, Postgres, Kafka, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes

Who we are

When the Netography Founders established the first DDoS defense company twenty years ago, they envisioned a day when networks could efficiently operate without dedicated security devices or complex security support. They dreamed of networks that could secure themselves without human intervention or rely on expensive hardware.

Today, Netography has made that vision a reality with the cloud’s power & flexibility. We’re helping companies gain visibility into on-premises, cloud & hybrid network environments to eliminate blind spots and an added security layer that does not rely on signatures to remediate threats. By assessing threats in the cloud, we can detect, route, or block bad traffic at a scale and ease never before possible.

Salary Expectations

$20 an hour (part time)

What we offer

  • Unlimited PTO
  • Inclusive environment that fosters creative problem solving
